About Us

Protect San Benito County is an all-volunteer coalition of local residents and environmental organizations that are working to protect San Benito County from sprawl development. Many of us have lived in the area for decades and care deeply for our local community and environment. We wish to protect our agricultural heritage, our cultural heritage, our natural heritage, and our rural quality of life.

Our current mission is to pass an initiative that would Let Voters Decide How Our County Grows. Our coalition includes these local organizations and individual supporters:

  • Preserve Our Rural Communities

  • Green Foothills

  • Sierra Club

  • Local Audubon Societies (Monterey & Santa Clara Valley)

  • Indian Canyon Nation (South of Hollister)

  • South Bay Indigenous Solidarity

  • Local farmers

  • San Benito County residents

  • Gilroy Growing Smarter

We invite you to join our coalition!
